ACTIVITIES OF DAILY PATIENT LIVING  QQI LEVEL 5 Component Certificate

This course is another module of the Healthcare Support full award.  it is designed to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to work effectively in a care setting.  it aims to promote good practice and respect for diversity in lifestyle, religion and culture in care work.

OCCUPATIONAL FIRST AID & DEFIBRILLATION - QQI LEVEL 5  - Component Certificate 

This first aid course is designed to provide the learner with the knowledge, practical skills and understanding required to provide and coordinate first aid in the workplace in accordance with the requirements of the safety, health & welfare at work (general application) regulations 2007 and associated guide to these regulations.  on successful completion of the course, the learner will achieve a fetac/qqi level 5 component certificate.  

The course consists of 8 units and includes community responder training in automated external defibrillators.

 CHALLENGING BEHAVIOUR  QQI  LEVEL 5 - Component Certificate  

This QQI Level 5 Module is another module in the Healthcare Support Full Award.  It is designed to equip the learner with knowledge and skills in supporting individuals with learning disability who present with challenging behaviour. 

Course units:

Recognising Challenging Behaviour

Understanding the Causes of Challenging Behaviour

Introduction to the Positive Behaviour Support model.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION & PLAY  QQI  LEVEL 5 - Component Certificate

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to ensure that each child's learning development and well-being is facilitated through the provision of opportunities, experiences, activities, interaction, materials and equipment, having regard to the age and stage of development of the child and the child's cultural context.  The course will outline the types, stages, patterns and purposes of children's play.

SPECIAL NEEDS ASSISTANT QQI LEVEL 5 - Component Certificate  

Childcare placement policies and Gardá vetting procedures apply.

This QQI Level 5 Course is designed to meet the training needs of those wishing to work as a Special Needs Assistant.  The course will develop skills, knowledge and understanding of the role of the Special Needs Assistant and promote good practice among those working in the primary or secondary classroom situation, creche, playschool or day care centre with children or adults with special needs. Learners will need to complete 30hrs. work experience.  QQI registration fee of €20 not included.   Medical card holders are exempt from this fee.

ACCOUNTING MANUAL & COMPUTERIZED QQI LEVEL 5 - Component Certificate

This course is designed to enale the learner to understand the principles and practice of maintaining financial records manually and using an integrated accounting software package.  The course is an ideal beginners course for those wishing to progress to the Accounting Technician Course.  QQI Exam Fee of €20 not included.

PALLIATIVE CARE QQI LEVEL 5 - Component Certificate

This course is suitable for carers currently employed in a healthcare setting or those caring for a loved one at home.  Learners who successfully complete this course will learn how to :-

  • Provide holistic care for persons diagnosed with a life-limiting illness and in the last days of a person's life and also for their families, carers and significant others.
  • Communicate effectively with persons with a life-limiting illness and in the last days of a person's life and also with their families, carers and significant others.
  • Enhance the quality of life of the person with a life-limiting illness.
  • Recognise and respect the uniqueness of each person's approach to death.
  • Work effectively as part of the healthcare team.

HIGHER DIPLOMA IN FACILIATING INCLUSION (DISABILITY STUDIES)

The Higher Diploma in Facilitating Inclusion (Disability Studies) (HDFIDS) is a unique course and a progression roue for graduates of the very popular part-time Diploma in Autism Studies.  It is an opportunity for people working in the area of disability to enhance their knowledge and skills to enable them to support the fuller participation of people with disabilities in education, training, work and leisure, the creative arts and culture also form part of this course and you'll be encouraged to contribute constructively to the ongoing debate around disability and inclusion locally, nationally and internationally.

Entry requirements are:
Hold a primary degree in any discipline (but preferably in the areas of Humanities, Social Sciences, Health Care) and evidence of working in the area of disability, whether in a personal, professional, voluntary or community capacity.


Or the candidate can hold a Diploma in Disability Studies/Autism Studies and have, in the opinion of the selection panel, evidence of substantial experience (at least two years) of working in the area of disability, whether in a personal, professional, voluntary or community capacity.
