(FAR) PHECC FIRST AID RESPONDER

Replacing the FETAC/OOQ Occupational First Aid Course  

The First Aid Response Course has been designed to produce highly confident First Aiders with the skills and knowledge to provide care until arrival of emergency services, and is aimed at those persons in an organisation/workplace with responsibility for first aid treatment in the workplace.  The course is focused on practical skills and scenario training, this is backed up with the theory sessions to provide the solid foundation of knowledge and understanding.  It has been recognised by Health & Safety Authority from 1st June 2018 as it meets all the requirements of the current Health & Safety Standards and requiements for employee training.  Maximun number of participants in this course is 6.

 CHALLENGING BEHAVIOUR  QQI  LEVEL 5 - Component Certificate  

This QQI Level 5 Module is another module in the Healthcare Support Full Award.  It is designed to equip the learner with knowledge and skills in supporting individuals with learning disability who present with challenging behaviour. 

Course units:

Recognising Challenging Behaviour

Understanding the Causes of Challenging Behaviour

Introduction to the Positive Behaviour Support model.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION & PLAY  QQI  LEVEL 5 - Component Certificate

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to ensure that each child's learning development and well-being is facilitated through the provision of opportunities, experiences, activities, interaction, materials and equipment, having regard to the age and stage of development of the child and the child's cultural context.  The course will outline the types, stages, patterns and purposes of children's play.

SPECIAL NEEDS ASSISTANT QQI LEVEL 5 - Component Certificate  THIS CLASS WILL BE OFFERED AGAIN IN JANUARY 2019

Childcare placement policies and Gardá vetting procedures apply.

This QQI Level 5 Course is designed to meet the training needs of those wishing to work as a Special Needs Assistant.  The course will develop skills, knowledge and understanding of the role of the Special Needs Assistant and promote good practice among those working in the primary or secondary classroom situation, creche, playschool or day care centre with children or adults with special needs. Learners will need to complete 30hrs. work experience.  QQI registration fee of €20 not included.   Medical card holders are exempt from this fee.

ACCOUNTING MANUAL & COMPUTERIZED QQI LEVEL 5 - Component Certificate

This course is designed to enale the learner to understand the principles and practice of maintaining financial records manually and using an integrated accounting software package.  The course is an ideal beginners course for those wishing to progress to the Accounting Technician Course.  QQI Registration Fee of €20 not included.

PALLIATIVE CARE QQI LEVEL 5 - Component Certificate - CLASS DEFERRED UNTIL JANUARY 2019

This course is suitable for carers currently employed in a healthcare setting or those caring for a loved one at home.  Learners who successfully complete this course will learn how to :-

  • Provide holistic care for persons diagnosed with a life-limiting illness and in the last days of a person's life and also for their families, carers and significant others.
  • Communicate effectively with persons with a life-limiting illness and in the last days of a person's life and also with their families, carers and significant others.
  • Enhance the quality of life of the person with a life-limiting illness.
  • Recognise and respect the uniqueness of each person's approach to death.
  • Work effectively as part of the healthcare team.
