Positive Mental Health - Well Being Week at KCC
This week students in Killarney Community College took part in Well Being week, the focus on Positive Mental Health. The students gathered for a whole school assembly on Monday morning with a recap on the five a day for Mental Health "Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give". Mr. Finbarr Walsh the father of the late Donal Walsh spoke to each class group in the college and made an impassioned plea for young people to talk about their problems and to "live life". He also spoke about the work of their foundation. Fiona O'Brien Principal "thought that his talk was inspiring, helping us to reflect on our own lives and to appreciate what we have. He gave a powerful talk to the students in our college". All the year groups tookl part in different workshops throughout the week, all with the focus of Positive Mental Health. The school's house system hosted a Dodgeball competition with the five houses in the college competing for valuable points. This was a fully inclusive fun event which helped unite all year groups and teachers to join together in teams in a positive healthy way.
