Trip to the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition in the RDS, Dublin
It was a great start to the new year for students in Killarney Community College. On Friday 10th January 2014, a group of sixty second years and some third years travelled by bus in the early morning (6.45am!) to the 50th BT Young Scientist And Technology Exhibition in the R.D.S. in Dublin. 550 projects from all counties were on display and varied from "Bees a dying race" to using Algorithms to break down codes. Such diverse projects kept the students interest along with visits to the R.T.E. Weather Broadcast and Titan the Robot Live interactive show. Students were treated to a few hours shopping in the Dundrum Shopping Centre on the way home. It was a fantastic educational trip for the students. It was a tired but happy group that returned to the school at 10pm that night. Much appreciation and thanks was expressed to the accompanying teachers; Ms. Crowley, Ms. Spillane, Mr. D'Sullivan and Mr. Scientist (Mr. O'Connell) along with Klaus Woessner (SNA).
