Careers Fair - Wednesday 18th January 5.30pm - 8pm

The Fair is an opportunity for students to meet with, learn about and gather information from Irish Universities, Institutes of Technology, PLC Colleges and employers, Local and National to enable them with their parents, make informed choices regarding their College Courses and post school opportunities.

Staff members from University College Cork, University of Limerick, NUIGalway, Institutes of Technology Tralee, Cork, Limerick and Waterford, Kerry College of Further Education, St. John’s Central College, Killarney Community College, Mallow College and North Kerry College of Further Education are among the education institutes who will be attending.

Liebherr will host a stand focusing on careers with them and O Carroll Engineering will be on hand to talk about their apprenticeship programmes, the Gardai will also have a stand explaining their recruitment process.

Killarney Credit Union and Bank of Ireland will to advise on the financial supports they offer to students, sensible savings plans and the value of forward planning.

The Careers Fair is open to everybody in the Killarney Catchment Area. So if you are a Leaving Cert student or parent and are still unsure about CAO choices this Fair is an opportunity to come and talk to the experts from the Universities and Institutes of Technology and to firm up possible PLC programmes.

Fifth Year is the time to research post school opportunities, look around, see which College offers what, become familiar with basic minimum entry requirements, specific subject requirements and costings. A trip to the Careers Fair will point you in the right direction and support your upcoming college choices.

If you are a Third Year student you will be expected to choose your subjects for Leaving Cert in the next few weeks. A visit to the Careers Fair with your parents will help. You will hear from the experts out about the the subjects needed for specific courses and the subjects that will help if you are interested in a particular area of study.

Apprenticeships are opening up again. Learn about the possibilities here in Kerry.Over the weekend the national media told us that  up to 70% of first year students dropped out of some college courses! Lack of research plays a large part in that. This Careers Fair for the Killarney Catchment area is an ideal learning and research opportunity for parents and students.
