Scottish Play

Senior students in Killarney Community College were treated to a unique performance of the 'Scottish Play' when Boil in the Bag Productions visited the school recently. As part of their curriculum, fourth and fifth year students studying Macbeth were delighted to see both a contemporary and classic interpretation of the famous play. And as an extra treat, Boil in the Bag Productions is managed by Butcher Boy actor Eamonn Owens and actress Orlaith Rafter, famous for her role as Robin in RTE's Fair City. Students were star struck by the famous guests, and there wasn't a noise in the school library during the actors' passionate performance. Fourth Year student Gavin Lyne was very impressed with the diversity of the Macbeth production. "It was really interesting to compare the original version of Macbeth with a modern adaptation that takes place in contemporary Dublin. It helped me to better understand some of the major themes of the play". Killarney Community College students also appreciated the Questions and Answers session that was offered by Boil in the Bag after the performance.
