Adverse reaction to noise

Laura Hatton is a qualified Neuro Developmental and Sound Therapist in Co. Cork.

She will give a talk on how some regular simple movements can help the above named difficulties and how listening to specially designed CDs can eliminate adverse reaction to sound and allow the child to focus better on learning. The talk is organised by Ciaran Gallagher Home School Liaison Co-ordinator in Killarney Community. Ciarán has trained in NDT Therapy and is hoping to raise awareness of its benefits in our schools.

Chef Mark Doe visit to Killarney Community College

Mark Doe visited the 3rd Year Home Economics students today Friday 3rd March to give them an exciting two hour workshop on various dishes suited to their 3rd Year skills and the Junior Cert Home Economics Cookery exam.  All students prepared, cooked and served different dishes and Mark helped them throughout each stage of the process.  He demonstrated chopping skills, making garnishes and decorating sweet dishes as well as illustrating how to flavour dished correctly.  “it was a huge learning experience by the students who thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it” according to Home Economics teacher Ms. Máire Keane.

K.C.C. showcase artwork at Revelations Exposition

On Friday 22nd March 2013, art students from Killarney Community College along with their Art teacher Ms. M. Mahony, attended the opening of the first ever Exposition of artwork created by students from Primary and Secondary schools from all over Kerry. The Exposition was opened, in the Library of the Institute of Technology of Tralee, by Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gealtacht Mr Jimmy Deenihan. It was also attended by other local politicians, the president of the I. T. Tralee, The Mayor of Tralee and also the director of the Kerry Education Centre Caitríona Ni Chullota.
